First time I went here everything was awful. Service was meh, food was nothing to write home about. Food came kind of cold but we had already waited so long we didn't feel like arguing. Second time was absolutely awesome. Our waiter was attentive and friendly and the food will bring us back again. Get the Queso Charro, so tasty.

I had the Combo Fajitas, and it was mediocre at best. Steak was over done, and neither the steak or chicken had much flavor. Probably won't give it another try.

Went their on cinco de mayo and got the coronarita which was HUGE. They had a live mariachi band so the atmosphere was really unique and fun! Their side of queso was alright, and the beef tacos were slightly bland. Overall though a fun atmosphere with a-okay food.

I will begin by saying that the interior is very bright and colorful. It is a good sized location and the service we had was very good. Pretty much your standard free chips and salsa mexican place. Everything was pretty much what you would expect, nothing above average to speak of, but most importantly they did not doing anything wrong. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area looking for a bite to eat.

This place has really taken a turn for the worse. Lousy nachos supreme, tasteless and runny, ordered enchiladas locas they're supposed to be made with steak , they came with shredded chicken. Big sign says corona's on draft, the don't have it. Only saving grace is that both the staff and management are very nice. Too bAd the food has gone down so bad. I'm the Duke but I'm afraid I won't be coming back.

Husband ordered one of the very reasonably priced lunch specials--good value, good quality. Our daughter and I ordered ala carte--tasty cheese enchilada, good steak tacos--tamale had a bit too much masa. Good chips, good salsa.

The decor was lively and colorful. A couple came singing around to the tables. It created a wonderful ambiance. We came in a group of 7, all vegetarians. We got 2 pitchers. One frozen mango margarita and one of margarita on the rocks. They kept the chips and salsa coming. They had veggie selections. We got 2 orders of spinach enchiladas and 5 veggie combos. It was a nice place! We really enjoyed ourselves!

I'm not a big fan of Mexican cuisine, but the every so often that I crave it, this is my place to go. I always go with a rather big group of people and we all leave full and happy. Service is quick and the fajitas are amazing.

I really want to like this place more than I do. The staff is always so nice but the food and drinks are just OK. Margaritas taste like they come from a bottle, food is average. Place can be kind of loud when there are large groups-which seems like it's often. Saturday night has roaming singers/guitar players-nice touch, but not my thing. We continue to go here because 1.) it's not that expensive, 2.) cheap mexican beer on tap, 3.) easy to get a table. If you are really looking for a good mexican meal, go elsewhere.

Went tonight for dinner after being there Thursday night margarita special. Service was friendly and warm, food was delicious, hot, and generous ($9.99!). Plus Yelp gave me $9 off. Would recommend it for the price point, easy to find, great overall experience. Looking forward to warmer weather to dine outside.

Atmosphere was brilliant! Waiter was very good. Did was DELICIOUS! HIGHLY recommend the chicken dish with homemade chorizo. The flavors were phenomenal.

My wife and I hit this place up for lunch once or twice a week - great lunch specials. Atmosphere is nice. When you get a good server they will remember you and make sure you feel welcome. Some issues: - Napkins are scarce here. You have to ask for them since they only give you one. - Soup comes with every meal but the way that it's offered is weird. They offer the soup in a way that makes it seem like you might not want it... "oh - did you want soup with this?" - Not consistent - sometimes they have soup, sometimes they have hot sauce. This might be seasonal but it's not clear. - Service is inconsistent - usually service is pretty good but more than once we've had a server forget that we were there (after serving us) or we had to wait for the manager to notice and step in (to get a check, to clear the table, etc). Understandable when they are swamped but they are never very busy.

My last visit really has me rethinking my patronage. The service was the worst service I have experienced. The waiter seemed disinterested and inattentive. When we arrived to take our order, I mentioned to him I checked in and I wanted to use the check in offer. Without looking at the offer, I was told it could not be used. When I inquired about the reason, I was told he would have to speak with the manager. I asked if he could check before we ordered. He left for several minutes and went to the kitchen (the manager who I know was at the bar). He returned and said he needed to my phone to show the manager. Fast forward. Manager says of course. Food comes. No extra napkins, additional salsa or return to see if everything was good. When he did return it was near the end of the meal. I had the impression he was upset that a coupon was used, but his demeanor was pretty sour at the outset. I am doubtful that I will allow this bad experience keep me from ever returning, but I am sure it will be a while before I go back or suggest any one else does. There are good Mexican joints on every corner. I will happily redeem coupons and spend money someplace else in the immediate future.

Will definitely visit for their tasty and yummy margaritas and Nachos. Our server was an older gentlemen who seemed to be annoyed with something and was not cheerful but I can understand one can have some bad days. Anyways will visit for sure.

I've been here a couple times over the past year. Went here last night with a friend and had the place pretty much to ourselves. When we were walking in my friend said, "It's hard to be sad walking in here, the atmosphere can make anyone smile." The decor is awesome, the hand painted chairs are something to see. The menu is typical mexican fare, good size portions. They have several size and flavor margaritas with different quality tequilas. We didn't feel rushed and the waiters were attentive. When I checked in on Yelp, I found a $7.99 coupon good off two full meals, great deal! There is an outdoor patio which I did enjoy last summer and I am looking forward to enjoying it again this year. Overall, I would recommend this place for typical mexican food, good service, and margaritas.

Wow! I was blown away from this place. I took my girlfriend here for our two year anniversary and we had great service and food. Listed here are a few things that went well. 1st - PRICE! When in tapped checked in here on yelp it immediately said that I will get 9 dollars off! So guess what? I GOT 9 DOLLARS OFF MY MEAL! Thanks yelp! 2nd - The waiter's name was Chico and he did an amazing job. He was quick, polite, and beyond super friendly! 3rd - The food was amazing and better then a few others I have been too! My girlfriend, who is first generation Mexican American, said the food is very authentic. 4th - The decor is beautiful. It's very colorful and clean. We will definitely returning here again a few times in the future. I highly recommend this place.

Beautiful furniture and decor. Good food, good service! Loved the table, salsa and the Shrimp cocktail Will be back again! :)

Went there for lunch and got the Burrito Loco. It was amazing. The chips and salsa was very good as well. Service was friendly and efficient and my food came just after I finished my first bowl of salsa. I got back from my 1hour lunch with 15 minutes to spare. Can't wait to try them at dinner.

What a pleasant surprise!! After many times, having driven by this restaurant, on my way to read or Kinko's or the classic cinemas, Mary and I decided to join her sister for happy hour. The margaritas were excellent. We ordered nachos with chicken... Excellent. We also ordered a fajita with shrimp, beef and chicken. It to was excellent. The salsa was second to none. We would recommend this restaurant two lovers of Mexican food.

Wanted a quiet place to spread out for a business discussion over lunch. My colleague and I had not been to Good Tequila's in a while, so we decided to go there. Quiet it was. We arrived for lunch right at noon and there were probably only three or four tables occupied. Right next door is China Buffet which had a waiting line out the door. The food was okay, not outstanding and a little more expensive than I think it was worth. Two platters and cokes for lunch = $30. A bit high. None the less, it was quiet, so we were able to get out work done. The service was outstanding (possibly because there was one wait staff for every occupied table). Not on my list of favorites, but certainly not bad and worth trying. I think I'll go back and try a few of their margaritas one night.

This is hands-down our very favorite Mexican restaurant. The food is fantastic, the service is always great, we love the atmosphere and of course, the margaritas! We always get the 18 oz. one and let me tell you, one will do you. We also had our "meet and greet" dinner here with mine and my fiances family getting together for the first time after the engagement. Pitchers of delicious margaritas and mariachi music definitely helps to break the ice. P.S. Try the Enchiladas Verdes. YUM

Carne asada was good, but our waiter-not very friendly. Used their coupon but not happy about it.

  • Beth G.

I love the chairs. I wish I could love the service I received, which was lackluster and inattentive, at best. Food was just meh. The steak in the tacos was a little tough, the salsa was bland, the rice and beans were forgettable. Mango margaritas were good, but pretty weak. I can't say I would go back, unless someone was treating.

I visited Good Tequila's for the first time last Friday and had their $7.99 lunch buffet. It featured chicken, beef, and steak and had all the fixings you need to make an awesome taco, burrito, or taco salad. Delicious "pre-assembled" items such as chicken and cheese enchiladas were also available. I was also impressed by the nice selection of simple desserts, such as flan, chocolate cake, churros, and cut fresh fruit. An excellent value for the money. I'll be returning soon, making sure to skip breakfast that morning!

Burrito rice and beans no drink $16 R u kidding. Burrito doesn't come with rice and bean and it was like $12.50 Can't afford to b back

  • Carmella M.

Im gonna give them 3 out of 5 only because $2.50 Margarita they offered. Now in Roselle La Hacienda is our normal Monday Night spot but because it was raining so bad last monday we gave this place a shot.. Was I totaly disappointed no, not really I had the garlic Shrimp and my husband had a fiesta platter, portions are smaller then we get at our normal Roselle spot but the food was good we had a great time I felt great leaving after 4 Margaritas, I wont say it was a total flop but they have room to grow, its sad because im trying to support local small businesses more and trying to stay away from big franchises when eating out to do my part in the time in need,, I feel comfortable saying that if theres another bad storm on our Monday Margarita night then Yes I would go back ... there I said it !!

A word to the wise, read the reviews that are written. The good - the décor and clean establishment. The bad - the service but more importantly, the food. My recommendation - save your money and go to Taco Bell. Seriously. Worst Mexican food I've had in a long time. Had the enchiladas topped with pulled pork. The pulled pork was so dried up I literally could not cut it. Were offered a cup of complimentary soup - that never came. All three entrees we had were terrible. I can't believe that in this economy this place has been able to stay in business. The place was not even busy and yet the server was inattentive and forgetful. Next time I'll pay more attention to previous reviews and take my business elsewhere.

Better than you might expect for ElK Grove Village. The place was jumping on a Saturday evening. My son dumped piping hot cup of their bisque all down my right leg - the entire restaurant clapped in approval but the server and busboy didn't make me feel like a jerk... bless them for that.

Well, I'd like to say I had better news, but there is a fundamental issue with the food at this restaurant. First, this is a non-margarita review (i didn't get tipsy before I ate, so it pretty much is a non filtered review. The nacho chips they brought out , while fresh and nicely chewable, had a very mild taste of an un-natural product...kind of like a very very mild taste of plastic--maybe the oil they used??? Or maybe a cheap plastic bag they were stored in or how they were purchased. I didn't take the complimentary Chicken Coodle Soup because I was really looking forward to my Hot and Spicey Buritto--but I did take a couple of sips of what my wife had left in her bowl...once again, a very very mild aftertaste of someting odd; didn't enjoy the taste at all. The Hot and Spicey Burrito was a pretty big dissappointment. The size was ample, but the Chicken and Beef on the inside was bland and appeared to be unseasoned. If you like Burritos, you can't go wrong with El Sombrero on Elmhurst Road in Mount Prospect or La Hacienda on Lake Street in Roselle. Overall: Toluca's in McHenry is the king in my eyes: tolucasrestaurant.com

Beautiful restaurant with great service. I really wanted to give this place a great review. Unfortunately the food is not good. Some of the absolute worst Mexican food we have ever ate. You don't just rap everything a rubbery tortilla and put horrible sauce on it call it Mexican food. We have been to dozens of Mexican restaurants and the quality of the food here is the worst we have had. Everything else is great, but, quality of food is very bad. Message to the owner is that food is in desperate need of improvements.

  • Lupe M.

Their food is delicious and super hot. They recently eliminated the buffet which I had gone before it was gone. It wasn't hot just, luke warm enough for me. You are better ordering off the menu. Enchiladas, can be made with green chile. Red chile is the normal sauce they use. I wish the staff would introduce themselves or have name tag. The decor is incredible it takes you away from work. Feeling like you are on vacation. I will continue being a customer.

It was just OK. I was hoping for better because the location of this restaurant and the one next door is where restaurants go to die. Unless this one improves I believe it will suffer the same fate. The service was good but the food was just OK for the price. You could do much better at other local Mexican restaurants

Came here last Friday and I am pleased! It was a nice evening so my parents and I decided to enjoy our food outside. It was a pleasant little outside area. The food was good and the service was quick. They have a very big menu and a nice margarita and pina colada drink selection. The inside seemed nice as well, very colorful and larger than I thought. I'll be back!

I just don't like this place. Tried it for the third and last time tonight. The only real plus I can give them is it's really cute inside and they have outdoor seating. Margaritas are ok too. I'm a huge fan of Mexican, and this place has never done it for me. I've been here 3 times in a two year span. Our last visit ok a weekday night we sat for 10 minutes before we were ever acknowledged. Turns out there was only one waiter, who was also working the bar. Even though they were slow, he couldn't seem to keep up. Hence we were ignored. My boyfriend order carne asada, and I'd never seen a smaller portion of steak. When they set it down in front of him it was very sad looking. See photo. I ordered the chimichanga. I came covered in Queso (I hate Queso) which the menu did not say. Also had what can only be described as marinara sauce dumped all over it. I ended up sending it back and just enjoyed my margarita.

Found this place browsing through the Save-a-lot mailing, and figured, why not. Upon walking in, greeted by a friendly young man who promptly sat us at a cute booth. He immediately took our drink order, a big ass strawberry margarita (STRONG) and a mango daiquiri. both arrived quickly and were good. While we were waiting for the drinks, a basket of fresh chips and salsa was delivered. Also, good. Time to order. I had the combination fajitas and my husband had the mucho something burrito. He liked his. Mine came to the table sizzling hot and wasn't bad. The vegetables were cooked well, but it was something about the meat that I didn't care for. I don't know if they boil it or make it ahead of time then just heat it up when ordered because the food came FAST. Dessert. The fried ice cream. GOOD. ask for no whip cream.. I've always had fried ice cream with sopapillas on the side so we had an order of those too. They were both good at $3.99 a piece... my kind of prices... The place is well decorated with great colors and art on the backs of the chairs, tables, and even walls. They also had a nice seating area outside which seems great for summer nights. Overall, not bad. I've had better, but for something quick and reasonably priced, I'd go again. Service: The same guy who seated us served us and there were a few other guys walking around making sure everyone had what they needed. They were attentive but didn't rush. The search for the perfect mexican place in dupage county continues......

good Mexican food at fair price...plenty of parking...if you are planning on several drinks of margaritas, ask for the table near the bar...and walgreen is next door so you can pick up some hangover medications for tomorrow morning

For our first time to Good Tequila's, we had a good time! I enjoyed their outdoor patio and the staff was very friendly. The inside decor was bright, funky, and I loved it! I ordered cheese enchiladas and my husband ordered a steak burrito. The food was pretty solid, but the chips and salsa...OH MY! I want to buy some bottles of that salsa! It was DELICIOUS, great kick to it and you can definitely taste the cilantro...so good! They served a chicken chipotle soup as a starter. My husband loved it...it was a bit heavy for me though. I would love to check it out during the week though for some drink specials! It seems like a fun place to get some margaritas!

I really enjoy this place. Several Mexican beers on tap, nice atmosphere, and good service. I have had several different dishes, and all were good. Saturday there is a couple of Mariachi players. My favorite dish is chilaqueas Mexicanos. My wife gets a shrimp dish that she really enjoys. Drinks are reasonably priced.

I love the ambiance and the food at this place!! Both are amazing, and the other reviewers were right--the hand painted chairs and booths were a really cool touch! My friend and I went here last night for a girls' night, and I am sure glad we did!! We started with the cheese dip and the nachos supreme. Both portions were very generous and delicious! Especially the nachos--you can't go wrong with nachos that come with both pulled chicken AND beef. YUM! We also ordered meals (which we found out after our nachos that we did NOT need to do since we were that full from the appetizers! But it came with chicken chipotle soup, which in theory sounds good, but in reality, was not very good. My friend ordered fajitas and was sweet enough to share a bite with me--yum!! I got the taco salad, and there were SO many delicious ingredients in it, and it was in the flakiest, most delicious taco bowl I have ever eaten. I would eat it every day if I could! The only thing that keeps this from being a 5-star rating would be the service. Our waiter took forever to take our order on anything, and we found out later it's because he was spending more time sitting at the bar watching the Bulls game than anything. But with $2.50 margaritas, I didn't really care all THAT much ;)

  • mindy K.

My husband, daughter and I had lunch there today and it was great. We both have leftovers for dinner tonight too. I had chicken fajitas and my husband had some pork dish that was delicious. Prices are good but the drinks are pricey if you are getting margaritas. Will definitely go again. They have a good kids menu too and friendly staff.

Was excited to try this Mexican restaurant. It looked nice inside, good decor. Had a margarita, my friend had a strawberry margarita. These were good tasting. We had the chips and salsa, which were decent. The waiter made a few suggestions. I went with a quesadilla fajita. I've had something similar before. They stick the meat between two shells with the cheese and cut them into triangles. Unbeknownst to me, on this one they also put cheese on the outside. I couldn't pick it up, because it was in one large, folded large shell. Like a too-big-to-hold taco. What I've had before was in a fried tortilla shell. But you can't do that with cheese on top of them. The steak was inconsistent and the chicken just okay. It was nothing like a quesadilla, nor a fajita, both of which I love. Mine was bad, but my friends was worse. She had steak enchiladas. The red sauce they put on top was oddly flavored. She ate three bites. When asked, the manager said it was standard enchilada sauce. The manager offered to take the meal off the bill, which we agreed to.

We go here often for lunch. Good food, good chips and queso, though the queso could be warmer. Friendly servers. Good prices, especially if you get the lunch specials. They used to have a really good lunch buffet but don't so it anymore. Overall a good lunch restaurant. Haven't tried it for dinner yet.

My family and I are visiting my sister and were craving for Mexican. The other mexican restaurant place we wanted to go to was close. This place is pretty good. I would have rated it a 3 if the service was good. Food was excellent. The soup was great even if I only had the sauce since it had chicken. (i'm pescatarian). I had the camaromes a la diablo and the scale of spiciness is just right. Our server wasn't very friendly and didn't seem like he was having a good day. Since we were hungry, we went through the chips really quickly. We asked for another basket and waited, and waited. Until I decided to ask another server who was much more attentive. I'd still go back for the food. Maybe the server just had a bad day...

Good Tequila's? Maybe if I would have had tequila, I would have had a good experience. I went in for dinner last week with a girlfriend around 7:00pm. If you know anything about Elk Grove Village, you know that it is an industrial/business town. They basically roll up the roads after the 5:00pm whistle blows. It was pretty quiet when we walked in, so I figured that they would be glad to have customers. My girlfriend had a Restaurant.com certificate and she wanted to try it. I like to use these certificates when we are first trying a new place. If I like it, obviously I will be back paying full price over and over again. Especially when I work five minutes away. I think that some restaurants don't realize this fact. We were seated in a brightly painted room. The look of the room made me feel upbeat. It was the sort of place that I could see my youngest nieces really enjoying because it looks so fun! Someone came along and dropped off chips and salsa. Mexican Restaurants, please pay attention! Salty chips and spicy salsa should not be dropped at a table without ice water following very shortly thereafter. Sadly, this cardinal rule was missed. We waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, a waitress came over and offered to get drinks. I ordered an iced tea. My girlfriend ordered a Diet Coke and water. More waiting. When it finally arrived, there was no water. Tea and Diet Coke only. We asked for the water again. By now, I have tasted the iced tea which tastes like water with a lemon in it. The waitress returns. I request a Coke instead. The Coke does not arrive. She returns to take our order. I ask about the Coke. She says that she will get it. Nothing. I ask a passing waiter for a Coke. He miraculously appears just moments later with a Coke in hand. Ahhh. Much better. When the food arrives, it comes from someone other than the waitress which makes me wonder what in the world she has been doing all night. She doesn't deliver drinks, she doesn't deliver food, she doesn't clear dishes. I think she only takes orders and brings them to the kitchen. We may as well have ordered at a counter for the lack of service that we received. The food. The complimentary soup was very good. It was a chicken chipotle soup. Kinda creamy. Not something that I would normally think to try, but the pieces of chicken breast were a nice surprise and I would consider trying that again. My girlfriend's chimichanga received high praise from her. She liked the flavor and said that it was fresh. My chicken and mole enchiladas were okay. The mole was quite strong. The chicken was not dry, but the combo wasn't exactly what I was hoping for. The Mexican rice was dry and clumpy. I only took a bite or two and the flavor really wasn't there. I don't plan on returning anytime soon which is a shame. I would like somewhere to head to right after work for a good dinner. This just isn't it.

I've been here a couple of times in the last month, once for dinner with book club and today for lunch. The place is super bright and cheerful with all bright colors and there is a nice outdoor patio. Good chips and salsa! I had shrimp diablo (SPICY! but delicious) when I went for dinner and today I had a breakfast burrito for lunch, also delicious! Service was good as well. And it was cheap! Bill was like $21 for 3 of us.

My husband and I started coming here after we'd been going to nearby El Talpapa forever. We thought we'd give it a try and now we've been here at least 5 times. It's nothing spectacular, but the service is good, fast and friendly. The food is decent, is it the best Mexican ever? no, but I'm having a seriously hard time finding good Mexican in the Chicago burbs and this place is a good bet and much better than some other places I've been. I like it and I'll continue to visit.

My husband and I went for lunch. We had a $10 coupon if you spent $20. We order about $30 of food and drinks. When we tried to use the coupon, we had to see the manager. He claimed that all lunch dishes and the drink (alcoholic) did not count. He very reluctantly gave us the discount. The food itself was average and the drink was around $13 which seemed very expensive.

I wasn't to impressed.. first off the chips were not homemade, the salsa is watered down... very few tomatos.. then they charge you a dollar for every basket after 2. For dinner I had the chimichanga with shredded steak. The cheese sauce and tomato sauce they put on top of it made the chimi soggy. It wasn't even crispy. A cheese sauce should be thicker there's was so watered down.... the shredded steak wasn't even that good. Last time I go here... but I went because of restaurant.com ...

In my mission to try every taco place I come across, I was pretty excited to check out Good Tequila's. It's down the street from me, very large, has a nice outdoor area for the summer. Once I walked inside and saw the bright fun decor I was even more excited for this to be our new local taco place. Sadly that won't be the case. To keep the playing field even at all the taco places I go to, I always get steak tacos so as to compare apples to apples, err steak to steak. Just like a taco place down the road from here, the meat was bland and had no flavor to it. Very americanized. I review mentioned how great the salsa was and that being my favorite food I was excited to try it. It had no real flavor or kick to it at all. Just cold bland tomato dip essentially. The saving grace here was the queso. My friend got it and, if im remembering correctly (we visited here a while ago now) that dip was the best part of our meals. Maybe I'd come back here to try the margaritas and get a non-salsa dip and chips while catching up, but wouldn't plan a whole meal here. This place fits a running pattern I've seen that bigger is not better when it comes to taco locations.

Nice atmosphere. Waitstaff was friendly and knew what they were doing. The Chipolte pepper soup was very good. The food was...eh... so-so.... the sauce on the main course tasted like Ragu. Way too heavy on the tomato. We came here with a restaurant.com certificate. We did not meet the minimum purchase amount, however they were willing to work out a deal, which was nice. However, I probably will not come back.

The atmosphere was nice, bright, and friendly. Service was good. drinks and chips and salsa were good as well. The food though...was awful. The plate was so hot it almost burned to touch which leads me to believe it was in the microwave for 5 mins. The rice was luke warm, flavorless, and clumpy. The beans were extremely greasy. The tacos..I have had better from taco bell. The "meat" was like a flavorless paste. It was pretty pricey too considering the quality (or lack there of) of the food. Will not be returning.

Huge portions. Bought a restaurant.com coupon on sale for this place and used it here. Basically got $25 off our meal. Margaritas were good, cool atmosphere, and great food! No complaints!

"I really enjoyed the food and ambiance here. I love mexican food and have had a hard time finding authentic food in this suburb. Only negative is the booth they sat me at was mechanically connected to the booth behind me. Therefore, I kept bouncing around when my booth neighbors moved around. Other than that, loved it.

This place is fantastic! The food was wonderful, good portions and good pricing. The staff was very friendly and our waiter was right on top of anything we needed. The cheese dip has to be the best I have ever tasted and that says alot coming from a Texas girl who grew up around mexican food! The environment blew me away. the handcrafted, hand painted chairs and all the art is beautiful! I will definitely be returning alot!

My husband, 18 month old son, and I stopped here after work on Thursday night at 6pm. The interior was very festive. The restaurant itself was dead. Barely any customers. We were seated and then the owner stood behind our booth for 10 minutes watching Tv. The bartender came by and dropped off stale chips and the most bland sales I have ever tasted. Then we waited 20 min to order. We finally ordered food. Then we were served promptly. Too promptly! I guess it doesn't take too long to work a microwave. My husband and I ordered a taco and nutrition combine. We got our son cicken tenders. Our food was DISGUSTING! the taco shell was covered in grease that the shell became soggy. The rice was burnt. It was inedible. My son ate his chicken happily. I asked the waiter for the bill. He noticed we did not eat. So he asked if everything was ok. We said no and explained. He asked if he could get us anything else and we declined. We just wanted to pay the bill and go home. The bill comes and the waiter had removed our meals which was a nice gesture. Never eat here unless you like burnt rice.

Came in for their lunch hour and was not expecting to sit down in a hand crafted chair made out to what looked like palm trees and coconuts. The craftsmanship on the chairs is pretty amazing for this style of restaurant. We were served with a small chicken chipotle soup which was a bit spicy and a bit greasy as you could see it through the broth. I ordered a shrimp, scallop and meat fajitas meal. Nothing was burned, but it did lack flavor... i kept looking for the salsa to bring something into the mix. I also ordered a Guacamole which sadly never made its way to my table. The waiter completely forgot about my order. I was trying to feel happy about the fajitas platter I was given but the side of guac would of helped me feel happier. I found myself waiting on the waiter a few times for more refreshments and tortillas..... he did say its tortillas all you want and well.... I wanted more but it took way to long to come out. We ordered the lemonade which was really good but didn't make up for the lack in taste in our food. I cant say I would come back, although the waiter did say that If we came back they would give a guacamole on the house which i found that to be nice. For a lunch time hour it was not to full.... the buffet next door seems to be taking the glory thats for sure. Id go there..

Oh boy, I wish I had better news about this place. I was really looking forward to eating here. It's where the old La Magdalena used to be. I was really disappointed all the way around. First, it was crowded when we went last night so I figured that there must have been a reason...not to mention that it's the opening week so the food should be good. Well, it wasn't the case. We were seated at the only booth they had left, in the corner of the bar...no biggie. It took some time for a server to come around with chips and salsa. The salsa was spicy, which I like but my husband doesn't, but we didn't have water. I had to go to the bar to place a drink order b/c we had been sitting there for over 10 minutes without being greeted by a server. The menu wasn't what I was expecting either. I thought that given the name there would be grilled items offered. Nope, it's just your run of the mill Mexican restaurant, serving Americanized Mexican food. We placed our order and I expected the service to pick up a little bit since the manager comped our first round of drinks for being slow. That didn't happen, once again we were the forgotten table. I thought it was b/c they seemed to be busy and they're new, but the "chef" came out to greet two guys at the bar and while they were chatting I overheard that most of the servers were from the old restaurant that used to be there. Great, so they're not new just incredibly slow! So, despite my irritation at being the forgotten ones I was looking forward to our food, expecting it to be their saving grace. Nope, again! They really need to lay off the salt! There was so much salt in the beans that I actually puckered. We also ordered guacamole, I was expecting fresh guac but it seemed to be packaged...and it had NO flavor other than salt! My husband didn't really care for it either, and he's not a picky eater. We will not be returning. One good thing about the place that I did like was the decor. They have what appear to be hand painted chairs and booths that are really pretty. However, that's not enough for us to return.

I give this place 5 stars for its outstanding service!!! People can complain about the food as much as they want, but everybody knows they can't go anywhere they want and expect their food to be perfect. I thought our food was delicious. The staff was VERY friendly and I got to meet each and everyone of them that night because I was amazed at how humbling they were. When I ordered a drink, they made sure to ask me if it was good or not, it it wasn't, they wanted me to let them know how they can make that drink a lot better. I don't really care so much about how the place is decorated, I base my rating on the service and the food, and to the party I was with and I. it was outstanding. I'll definitely be back here soon..shit, I'll be back tomorrow for their Margarita's specials and watch the Bulls game! lol

Food was nothing special and Mateo needed an attitude adjustment. Food was definitely better than the last establishment that occupied this space. But loved the decor!! The hand painted tables and carved chairs made this a festive place. I want one. Had enchiladas..they were ok. Not quite spiced enough. Kinda bland. Asked for no rice...came with only rice. Sent it back. Tres leches cake was good, chocolate cake was really dry. Ummm, not sure I will return.....

My GF, my son and I went last night. 9.99 for a combo platter and $2.50 margaritas...hell yeah. Food was excellent. I had a combo platter-burrito, steak tacos with cliantro and onion and rice and beans. Much cheaper and BETTER than Talpapa down the street. We also got fried ice cream. YUM. Our server was Antonio? and very attentive and on point. Will definately come again!

Went there for lunch with some co-workers & I was very impressed. Nice decor, many menu options & a lunch menu as well. I would recommend the chimichanga & quesadilla lunch combo.

This place should be called "So-So Tequila's". Or "Eh Tequila's" or "It's not great but you get a lot of food Tequila's". The margarita's are good but once again not great. My friend had steak fajitas that had the texture of shoe leather. The guacamole tastes like it comes from a bag. The salsa and chips are hit or miss too. Sometimes they're good; the other day they were terrible. We wanted to ask the server to bring us tomatoes, garlic, jalapenos and salt so we could fix it. I will give them that they're tequila is in fact, Good! I wouldn't bother going.

I live pretty close to this resturant and this is my second time visiting. The dining room is quite large with a lot of tables to sit. The service was a little off tonight, my assumption is the server was newer and still getting the hang of things. But she was nice, so I'll give her that. The prices are fair and the quality of food was pretty good. They give one free refill on chips and after that charge a $1. I also noticed on the menu, a .25 cent charge for orders to go, I don't think I've seen that before. The menu's did seem to have a lot of cross outs on it. I ordered a Miller Lite draft b/c it was on *my* menu, but I guess it was meant to be crossed out. The table we sat at was right next to the bar, and had soccer blairing out of it, although we couldn't see the screen from our angle. It has potential, just little things to keep in mind.

Had Chicken Flautas and guacamole. Both were very good and the server was friendly. This place is decorated in enough color to keep you awake no matter how much tequila you drink.

The veggie chimichangas were out of this world, filled with grilled vegetables and so big I had to take one home. The salsa was also fresh. The decor and painted chairs are amazing. And the margaritas are good, too. I definitely will return.

Went last Friday for an after-hours outing. Had a great time! The margaritas were DELICIOUS and well-worth the price. The chips and salsa and guacamole were DELICIOUS! I didn't order any other food, but others in my party did and they all said it was DELICIOUS! Nay sayers...give it another try. Might have just had a bad server. Ours was very attentive. WILL BE GOING THERE AGAIN VERY SOON! I'm dying to try their lunch buffet. :)

First, the decor. I never quite appreciated the meaning of the term "eye-bleeding" until I walked in the door. The chairs sure are...interesting. Hand painted and carved, it looks like, which is cool...except the whole restaurant kind of looks like Rainbow Brite armed with half the contents of a Sherwin Williams factory went on a psychedelic rampage. Second, the service. There were four tables occupied and it still took us more than an hour to eat and get out of there. The server stood near the bar watching TV half the time, and clearly couldn't care less about the people he was serving. Third, the food. Now, I'm giving this place 2 stars as a benefit of the doubt because I don't often eat Mexican. But the beef burritos I had kind of looked like someone took a can of dog food out and wrapped it in a burrito shell. The soup was greasy and nothing to write home about. The rest of my party's food looked like the same cheap meat with very little veggies. I'm pretty sure Taco Bell would have been a better choice. But again, I don't eat Mexican much, so maybe I'm way off base. I wouldn't go back given the stomachache I had afterward and the fact that we had to wait 20 minutes for the very non-busy server to ring us up.

My girl friend and I went here for dinner tonight and we loved the decor. They brought us out our complementary chips and salsa and let me tell you the salsa was fantastic! To drink we had strawberry daiquiris and those were also very good. We ordered our entrees and got a complementary soup with our dinner that was great as well. Then came our main entree with all these good things going on I was excited to see what they had to offer. We both got the two taco dinner that came with rice and beans. The tacos were tasteless and very greasy. Something that I will compare the tacos to are Taco Bell and in my opinion Taco Bell makes much better tacos. The beans had a grease pool sitting on top of the melted cheese and I'm pretty sure this was put in the microwave by how hot the plate was and by how fast the food was brought out. I guess there was a reason why this place is always so empty.

The decor is colorful and inviting as well as family friendly. The carnitas are amazingly authentic and yummy; and the chips and salsa are super fresh. My family plans on returning soon!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
